Haditha Roundup...

I have a post I mean to get to about a very good thing. Alas, I feel it necessary to post this link about a very bad thing. Greyhawk, within whose MilBlog Ring I reside, has a good review of the events leading to the Haditha story as it now exists.

Mudville Gazette - Haditha Signal To Noise

The story, it seems, is very murky. There is much information which is missing and at first glance may even be incorrect. We shall see. If actions by Marines in Haditha prove illegal, then justice should be brought to bear, fully.

If it is wrong, who will fight for the Marine's honor?

PS - I stand by my comments about Rep. Murtha.

I do not believe that it is the honor of the entire Marine Corps at stake. It is the honor of the few, who may not be able to answer for their actions, and those who may have tried to cover the path. I agree with you,as the son of career Marine Officer, who knows the pride with which Marines carry themselves, that this incident is out of the ordinary. However, in every bushel of apples......in this case, however, one bad one may end up spoiling the whole bunch. And a tragic day that may prove to be.

It is as yet undetermined the actual series of events. I would be very cautious about passing any judgement to the good or ill.

And I also do not agree with the potential to sully the honor of the Marines. As with one so go the many, I believe the marines will own up to the failures of the Corps if the allegations prove to have merit.

Honestabe. I admire your courage by inviting Deux into this group. Although he is conservative on a lot of issues, he calls a spade a spade when he sees one. And some of you conservative pundits may not like the call......

Abe,

Welcome. I trotted over to your site. Intersting. We shall see how things develop. Scoot is correct, despite my monarchist leanings, I am a bit libertarian at heart...

What are your thoughts on the Hadji Girl song controversy? I was going to blog about it, but don't think if fits the theme of my little piece of the web. I have mixed feelings-certainly, the lyrics and the performance do not help our perception in the world. What bothers me the most, however, is the loud number of voices (Michelle Malkin, other members of the Armed Forces) who seem to think that this was somehow permissable humor. If you know not about it, start at Sullivan and track back...

This would be a good subject for you. Not for me. I am too weary of school and wish to focus on lighter things.

I have only had a passing interest in the Hadji Girl controversey. I will look into it. If you will recall during the Iran hostage issue. There were a number of songs which received commercial radio airplay which were VERY unflattering and "insensitive" towards the Iranians.

The problem now is that we have the Internet, which permits any yahoo (pardon the pun) to post their personal tripe and be held up as "representative" of their group.

I think the song is an issue only for those who want it to be an issue. Many more folks have complained about the photo spread of Osama Bin Laden's female cousin in GQ.
